William A. Covey, age 91, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by his family at his residence.
William was born on August 25, 1934, in Huntington, IN, to the late Delbert and Mary (Homier) Covey. William married Carolyn Byrd, on September 25, 1954, and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2025.
William was a semi driver and had worked for the Railroad Truck Loader and Kenosha Auto Transport where he retired. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Teamsters Union. He enjoyed woodworking and watching sports on TV.
He is survived by one son, William (Jenny) Covey Jr, Huntington, IN; one sister, Mary Ann (Jerry) Gressley, Andrews, IN; 5 grandchildren, Richard Jones, Nicki Jones, Chris Covey, Michelle Payton, Jason Covey; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Louise Covey, Roanoke, IN; and Phylis Hunt, Huntington, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Sue Covey, and brother, Jack Covey.
Services will be held at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church beginning with the Recitation of the Rosary at 9:40 a.m. followed by the calling from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.
Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
