Vonetta "Bonnie" (Newsome) Light

Vonetta “Bonnie” Light, 79, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at her residence.                                            

 Mrs. Light was born on October 28, 1940, in Ligon, KY, to Edgar and Mandy (Vance) Newsome.   Her parents preceded her in death.   Mrs. Light married Donald Light on September 15, 1987.  Don survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Mrs. Light was a factory worker at H. K. Porter. She loved trips to the casino and enjoyed playing the scratch off lottery tickets.   Bonnie had the biggest heart.  She would go above and beyond to help out anyone in need. 

Along with her husband she is survived by three brothers, Edgar Newsome, Jr., Friedberg, Germany, Fred Newsome, Clarence Newsome, both of Huntington, IN; and four sisters, Aretta Scheiber, Annette Little, both of Huntington, Leavelle Thornsbury, Fort Wayne, IN, Rhonda (Dave) Garner, Huntington, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Danny Newsome; and one sister, Maggie Stephens.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN, with Pastor Worlie Newsome officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to American Legion Post #7 or Wounded Warriors in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN  46750.
