Vernon Virgil Allmandinger

Vernon Virgil Allmandinger, age 87, of Roanoke, IN, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 15, 1937, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Virgil Vernon and Eleanor (Pawlisch) Allmandinger. He married Pamela Cramer on September 28, 1968, who survives in Roanoke.

Vern graduated from Elmhurst High School. He retired after 34 years as a Communication Technician with Indiana Air National Guard.  He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 160, life member of the Moose Lodge #837, and the NRA.  He was also a founding member of the flying circuit model airplane club and was a ham radio operator.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, Timothy Allmandinger; one daughter, Jennifer Allmandinger, both of Roanoke; one brother, Donald (Dawn) Allmandinger, CA; and one sister, Elsie (Donald) Geller, Fort Wayne, IN.   

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at McElhaney Funeral Home – Roanoke Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN, 46783.

Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2435 Engle Road, Fort Wayne, IN, 46809, with Pastor Trouten officiating.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke, Indiana.
