Vera G. (Wyss) Johnson

Vera G. Johnson, 101, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Parkview Huntington Hospital, Huntington, IN.

Mrs. Johnson was born on July 26, 1919, in Allen County, IN, to Clemence and Clara (Hake) Wyss.  Her parents preceded her in death.  She married Harold Johnson on June 25, 1942, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessen Cassel, IN. Harold preceded her in death on January 14, 2007. 

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker.  She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a member of Widows of Prayer, Right to Life, Gollner Guild and helped with church funeral dinners.

Vera is survived by 10 sons, Dean (Rosalind) Johnson, Lewes, DE, Larry (Amanda) Johnson, Huntington, IN, Marvin (Lea) Johnson, Covington, IN, James (Paula) Johnson, Fort Wayne, IN, Darrel (Christine) Johnson, Huntington, IN, Darwin (Carla) Johnson, Portland, IN, Charles (Melinda) Johnson, Ferdinand, IN, Mark (Karen) Johnson, Goshen, IN, Jeffrey (Annette) Johnson, Fort Wayne, IN, Jerry (Denise) Johnson, Cicero, IN;  three daughters, Claire (Thomas) Aulbach, Hartford City, IN, Julia (James) Zorger, Murfreesboro, TN, Jackie  Petcoff, Garrett, IN; 33 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Johnson; one grandson, Daniel Johnson, two brothers, Herbert Wyss, Arthur Wyss; and one sister, Mildred Steenman.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker and Deacon Charles Johnson officiating. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube channel, SSPP Huntington.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
