Thomas Edward Nicholson Sr.

Thomas E. Nicholson, Sr., age 88, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at his home.  He was born September 19,1934, in Huntington, IN, to the late George J. and Mary C. (Kasper) Nicholson.  He married Ruth Ann Sands on June 4, 1955, and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2000. 

Thomas was a Communication Specialist with Ameritech for 31 years.  He retired from Indiana Bell in December,1999.  He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN.  He was also a member of Moose Lodge #837. He also served in the Air National Guard 122nd Fighterwing at Baerfield Airport.

He is survived by one son, Thomas E. Nicholson, Jr., Huntington, IN; four daughters, Kimberlee (Dean) Schlapper, Fort Wayne, IN, Debra S. (James)  Rosen, Mt Etna, IN.,  Cheryl (Christopher) Hickey, Fort Wayne, IN,  15 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. Nicholson, Rome, NY, and John (Mary) Nicholson, Fort Wayne, IN; four sisters, Winnie Eckert, Huntington, IN,  Cathy Pursifull, Weiser, ID, Theresa Hammond, Louisville, KY,  and Joan Powers, Louisville, KY.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Ley, one granddaughter, Shannon Bartrom, one brother, Stanley Nicholson.

Calling will be Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

 Followed by a Funeral Service on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN with Father Tony Steinacker officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
