Thomas W. Mitchell, 72, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at his residence.
Tom was born on July 29, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH, to Harry and Esther (Berns) Mitchell. His parents preceded him in death. Tom married L. Kay (Wall) Myers on March 4, 1994, and she survives and resides in Huntington.
Tom was a 1968 graduate of Colerain High School in Cincinnati, OH. He was a car hauler for Allied Transportation and his CB handle was “hayshaker”. He was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #7, VFW Auxiliary #2689, and the Moose Lodge #837. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved music and played multiple instruments. Tom was an avid car racing, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan and was cheering for them fiercely at their recent Superbowl appearance.
Along with his wife, Kay, he is survived by one daughter, Tammy (John) Wernke, Lawrenceburg, IN; one son, Thomas (Dora) Mitchell, Cincinnati, OH; two step-sons, Scott Myers, Huntington, IN, Matthew Myers, Albion, IN; five brothers, Harry Mitchell, Ralph (Judy) Mitchell, both of Sunman, IN, Greg (Jo) Mitchell, Donnie (Kim) Mitchell, both of Cincinnati, OH, and Ronnie (Jan) Mitchell, Brookville, IN. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Tommy, Jessica, Shelby, Jenna, Justin, Kylie, Andy, Brooke, Debra; and three great grandchildren, Colten, Easten and Georgianna.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Michael and Patrick Mitchell.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 28, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.
A burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
