Suzanne (Stookey) Whitted

Suzanne Whitted, age 86, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

 Suzanne was born on May 25, 1936 in Huntington County to the late Franz H. and Ruth E. (Cole) Stookey.  Suzanne married Darwin W. Whitted on December 16, 1964, and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2001.

 Suzanne was a graduate of Bippus High School.  She worked as an administrator at Norwood Nursing Center for 24 years. After she retired, she worked as the administrator for Zahm Excavating for 7 years. She was a member of Bippus New Hope Church.  She served as the Treasurer of the Huntington Co. Cancer Services for 17 years, and the President of the Bippus Alumni Association.  She loved painting and playing the organ and most of all she loved being on her farm.

 Suzanne is survived by three sons, Gary (Donna)  Whitted, Houston, TX, Bryan (Kris) Whitted, Huntington, IN, Lon (Kimberly) Whitted, Andrews, IN; one daughter, Lynette (Steve) Dowden, Huntington, IN; 8 grandchildren; Heather (Richard) Williams, Jacob (Amber) Whitted, and Aaron Whitted, Corbin Dowden and Lane Whitted, Autumn Taylor, Samantha McCann and Chase McCann, and 5 great-grandchildren.

 There will be a calling on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson St, Huntington, IN  46750.

 A private burial will be held at Markle Cemetery, Markle, IN.
