Sr. Alodia Carney, OLVM Obituary

SISTER ALODIA CARNEY, OLVM, age 92, died on Monday, November 23, 2020, at Saint Anne Community at Victory Noll, Huntington.

Sister Alodia was born in Royal Oak, Michigan on April 30, 1928, to Patrick John Carney and Elodie (Frappier) Carney.  She is survived by one sister, Florence Smith of Arlington Heights, IL, several nieces and nephews, and her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared life and community for 71years.

Sister is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Raymond Carney; and two sisters, Helen Carney, OLVM and Rose Mary Carney, OSF.

Sister Alodia entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 27, 1949, and made first vows on August 5, 1952.  She served in the missions in Texas, California, Iowa, Colorado, Michigan, and at St. Patrick Parish in Fort Wayne.  She was a catechist at heart with everything she did and she focused on being with people and helping them to grow closer to God.  Sister Alodia returned to Victory Noll in 2009 to minister to the sisters in Holy Family Health Care as a Personal Needs Assistant.  She fully retired to a ministry of prayer and presence in 2019, although she continued to be in contact with family and people she had ministered with over the years.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, services will be for sisters only and will be livestreamed.  Please contact victorynoll@olvm.org for the livestream link.

Burial will be at Victory Noll Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
