Sigrid Kay (Gesaman) Broderick

Sigrid Kay Broderick, 78, Huntington, IN, passed away at 4:26 PM. on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Heritage Pointe, Huntington, IN.

Sigrid was born April 19, 1946, in Huntington, IN, to Harold and Doris (Outcelt) Gesaman. Her parents preceded her in death.  Sigrid married John D. Broderick on June 26, 1965, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN.  He preceded her in death on  April 18, 2016.                          .

Sigrid graduated from Huntington High School in 1964.  Sigrid was a legal assistant and worked for McIntosh and Hakes Attorney’s, she later worked at the Huntington Co Courthouse in Superior Court for Judge Tom Hakes. She also worked in the Huntington County Probation Office.  After retirement, Sigrid worked for the Town of Andrews, Clerk Treasurer office helping with utility bills. At the same time, she also worked for City of Huntington, Clerk Treasurer office performing various clerical duties. Sigrid was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

She is survived by one son, Paul E. Broderick, Martinsville, IN; two daughters, Debra (Chris) Weber, Greenfield, IN, and Carol Atha, Waterloo, IN.  She is also survived by one brother, Steven (Rose) Gesaman, Pierceton, IN; one sister, Rita Gesaman, Winona Lake, IN.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Hilary (Danny) Key, Luke Broderick, Ethan(Marissa) Broderick, Elise Broderick, Sam(Makenzie) Weber, Emily(Andrew) Gerard, Josh Weber, Ben(Hannah) Atha and Mark Atha, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Nathan Weber and Lynn Atha.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN. 

Additional calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, IN.   

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2024, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Father Tony Steinacker presiding.  

Burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Parkview Hospice in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
