Shirley M. (Lohse) Hardesty

Shirley M. Hardesty, age 81, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN.

Mrs. Hardesty was born on May 17, 1942, in Hammond, IN, to the late Wilbert and Dorothy (Tratebas) Lohse. Shirley married Lloyd Hardesty on August 25, 1962, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1997.     

Shirley had worked at Target and then retired from Wabash Magnetics. She loved pink and loved to go junking and was a collector of all things pretty.

Shirley is survived by one son, Dean (Sandi) Hardesty, Grayland, WA; one daughter, Deborah (Michael) Herring, Huntington, IN; stepdaughter, Linda Jett, AZ; two brothers, James (Carol) Lohse, Leesburg, IN, David Lohse, Plymouth, IN; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her long-time companion, Donald “Keith” Coffman; daughter, Tammy Reed; stepson, Kenneth Hardesty; and one brother, Clyde Lohse.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

A private burial will be held at Mosier Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN.
