Sara J. Hamilton, age 77, of Fort Wayne, IN, and formerly of Huntington and North Port, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at her residence.
Mrs. Hamilton was born on December 16, 1944, in Tyler, TX, to Richard P. and Martha (Stewart) Lee. Her parents preceded her in death. She married Efford Hamilton on April 20, 1963, at St. Peter’s UCC, Huntington, IN. He survives and resides in Fort Wayne, IN.
Sara graduated from Huntington High School in 1962. She was a homemaker and retired as a bank teller and had worked at Community State Bank, Huntington, IN, and First National, Roanoke, IN. She was a member of St. Peter’s 1st Community Church, Huntington, IN.
Along with her husband she is survived by one daughter, Lori Smith, Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Gage Girvin, Elizabeth Harvey, Alexandra (Jacob) Howard, Sophia Smith; and one great-grandchild, London Girvin.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Hamilton, Amy Harvey; one brother, Stewart Richard Lee; and three sisters, Patricia Lee, Saundra Sue Ellet and Rebecca Lou Huff.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Pastor Adam Jones officiating.
Burial will be St. Peter’s First Community Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
