Ronald L. Scher, age 82, of Warren, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2024, at his residence.
Ron was born on February 12, 1942, in Huntington, IN, to the late Leo and Evonne (Karriger) Scher. He married Mary Ann Stouffs in 1964. She survives and resides in Warren.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Clear Creek High School. He joined the United States Army and served in Germany for 3 years and then worked for International Harvester where he retired after 30 years. He had also joined the 122nd Air National Guard in Fort Wayne, where he retired as a First Sergeant after 23 years of military service. Ron and his wife Mary Ann opened Scher’s Floral in 1976. They also both obtained their real estate broker licenses and Ron also had his auctioneer’s license. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #1014. Ron loved to be outdoors, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
long with his wife Mary Ann, of 60 years, he is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Marie (James) McClure, Convoy, OH, and LeaAnn (Eric) Wilburn, Warren, IN; and one brother Jack (Pam) Scher, Huntington, IN. Ron is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Corey (Jerrica) Eppard, Cassandra (Tim) Hamilton, Benjamin (Stephanie) Eppard, Ethan (Hayley)Wilburn, Taylor (Blake) Randal, and Nicholas (Taylor) Wilburn; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Ann Scher Butts
Calling will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial all at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, IN, with Father Tony Steinacker presiding.
The burial with military rites will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
