Ronald Hochstetler Obituary

Ronald E. Hochstetler, 70, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at his residence in Huntington, IN.  

Ron was born on January 2, 1953, in Huntington, IN, to Edwin and Madonna (Stoffel) Hochstetler.  His parents preceded him in death. He married Cheryl Johnson on August 25, 1973, and she survives and resides in Huntington. 

Ron was a 1971 graduate of Huntington North High School and served in the United States Army. He was retired from law enforcement.  Ron had worked with the military police, Detective/Captain with Huntington City Police and worked at the Huntington Prosecutors Office. Ron was involved with the American Legion, FOP #77, McKenzie’s Hope and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1014.   Ron loved the Chicago Bears and was an avid fan. He loved his grandsons and his time on the lake.

Along with his wife of 49 years, Cheryl, Ron is survived by one son, Michael (Jennifer) Hochstetler, Crown Point, IN; one daughter, Kelly Alleman, Huntington, IN; one brother, Martin (Terri) Hochstetler, Fort Wayne, IN; and 5 grandchildren, Joseph (Rocio) Alleman, Nathan Alleman, Ryland Hochstetler, Zachary Alleman and Myles Hochstetler.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, James Hochstetler.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. followed by the calling hours from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart/Deal Rice Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by the 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to either Masses at SSPP or McKenzie’s Hope in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
