Rolla Blair Obituary

Rolla Blair, age 84, of Huntington, IN, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, surrounded by his family.

 Mr. Blair was born on September 6, 1939, in Hager Hill, KY, to the late Russell M. and Hazel (Osborne) Blair.  He married Patsy “Pat” Harris on December 22, 1962, in Clintwood, VA.   She survives and lives in Huntington.

Rolla graduated in 1959 from Wheelwright High School in Floyd County.  He then attended Pike College.  Rolla served the Lord for 60 years serving as pastor in Columbia City, Marion, and was the founder of the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church where he served as Pastor for over 20 years. He also worked at General Electric for 20 years as a tool & die maker. He also served on the board of the Associated Churches and the Kosciusko Association of Churches. His hobbies included fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.

 In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (Matthew) Carroll, Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Barbara (Tommy) Harris, Huntington, IN; daughter-in-law, Debra Blair, Houston, TX; 8 grandchildren, Andrew (Justine) Carroll, Alexander Carroll, Elijah Carroll, Isaac Carroll, Ethan Blair, Parker Blair, Olivia Blair, Camille Blair; and 2 great-grandchildren, Jaxson Carroll and Adilynn Carroll.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Kevin D. Blair; two brothers, Gordon R. Blair, Richard Blair; and one sister, Velma Daniels.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, 116 S. Main Street, Andrews, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church, 116 S. Main Street, Andrews, IN, with Matt Snoderly officiating.

A private burial at a later time will be at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church or to the The Associated Churches of Huntington County for the By the Book program, in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.
