Robert "Bob" E. Cox

Robert “Bob” E. Cox, age 99, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.  

Bob was born on June 30, 1925, in Huntington, IN,  to the late Elden and Lena (Millner) Cox. He married Joyce Garber on November 26, 1949, in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on November 9, 2000. His second marriage was to Kathlyne (Hummer) Guy in 2002, and she predeceased him in 2023.

Bob graduated from Huntington High School in 1943, and then joined the United States Navy.  He proudly served in the South Pacific until his discharge in 1946. Bob returned home after his service and graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, in 1949, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.  He began his career in business at Kitchen Maid Corporation in Andrews, IN, from 1949-1958. In 1958, he joined the Majestic Company in Huntington and retired in 1988 as Vice President of Sales & Marketing.  While in Huntington, Bob was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, and VFW #2689.  Bob was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and on record was the oldest Knight in the #1014 council. 

Bob is survived by one son, Robert L. Cox (Therese Groomes), Santa Rosa Beach, FL; two daughters, Cynthia Meyer, North Manchester, IN, Suzanne (Paul) Stephenson, St. Paul, MN; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two great-great grandchildren.

Along with Bob’s wives and parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lois Miller.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. followed with calling hours from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St, Huntington, IN.

Burial will at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
