Robert Stoeckley Obituary

Robert D. Stoeckley, 89, of Roanoke, IN passed away Monday, December 15, 2025, at his residence.

Robert was born on July 28, 1936, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Gustave and Agnes (Strock) Stoeckley.  His parents preceded him in death.   He married Ruth E. Fahrnow on February 6, 1965.  She survives and resides in Roanoke.

Robert graduated from Northside High School in 1954.  He proudly served in the United States Army Airborne.  He was the owner of The Roanoke Village Inn, for 24 years.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Roanoke, IN, VFW Post #2689, Moose Lodge and the American Legion #160, Roanoke, IN.

Along with his wife, he is survived by one son, John (Melinda) Stoeckley, Roanoke, IN; one brother, Tom Stoeckley, Downers Grove, IL; one sister, Barbara Askin, Fort Wayne, IN; and 3 grandchildren Zachary (Jill) Dougal, Caitlin (Shane) Wright and Ian (Candace) Stoeckley; four great-grandchildren, Anniston Dougal and Charlotte Dougal, Chase Wright and Cash Wright.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Calling will be 9:00 am to 11:00 am Monday, December 22, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main St. Roanoke, IN 46783, followed by the Requiem Mass at 11:00 am.

Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior or Shepherds House in Fort Wayne.  In care of McElhaney Funeral Home 240 Crestwood Drive Roanoke, IN 46783.
