Robert L. Hoffman, age 89, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Heritage of Huntington.
Robert was born on June 5, 1933, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Lee O. and LaVada (Wilhelm) Hoffman. He married Katherine J. Hartley on April 5, 1952, and she survives.
Robert retired in 1995 from Wabash Magnetics; he had worked in managing and sales for 41 years. Robert was one of the founding members of the Roanoke farm league baseball; he volunteered with the Roanoke Fire Dept., a member of the Kiwanis, Roanoke Conservation Club, active in the Roanoke Historical Museum, and named Citizen of the Year in 2005 by the Chamber of Commerce. After retirement Robert enjoyed working on the farm and traveling with Andy on his monster trucks.
Along with his wife, Katherine, he is survived by five sons, Dennis (Jill) Hoffman, League City, TX, Kirk (Judy) Hoffman, Columbia City, IN, Scott (Julie) Hoffman, Huntington, IN, Hal (Julia) Hoffman, Huntington, IN, Andrew (Lana) Hoffman, Roanoke, IN; two sisters, Loretta Stephens, Roanoke, IN, Marcia (DeWayne) Schoenaur, Payne, OH; 12 grandchildren; Kim (John) Lott, Kari Chapman, Kelli (Tayler) Kreider, Mindi (Spencer) Troyer, Christie (Ian) Strass, Ryan (Breanne) Hoffman, Landon (Adrienne) Hoffman, Amanda (Jeremy) Garner, Chris Hoffman, Jason Hoffman, Sara (Derek) Harmon, Luke (Marissa) Hoffman; and 21 great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jodi Hoffman.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home - Roanoke Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN, 46783.
Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service at the McElhaney Funeral Home – Roanoke Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN, 46783.
Graveside Services will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
