Richard "Rick" A. Willems

Richard A. “Rick” Willems, age 66, of Roanoke, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. Rick was born on April 23, 1960, to the late Robert and Mary (Jarvey) Willems. Rick married Elizabeth “Lisa” (Crandall) on November 4, 2017, and she survives. 

After his wife Lisa, Rick's biggest passion was music.  He enjoyed playing guitar in a Celtic rock band called FinTan.  He continued to play as long as he was able to, he also loved to sing often making up his own songs to fit his mood. Rick spent many years participating in the SCA where he obtained the status of Knight. He was proud to have been an elite fighter during this time. Rick enjoyed travelling with his wife Lisa, their favorite was to visit amusement parks together and riding all the roller coasters they could.

Rick was a software engineer and a computer consultant and had recently worked at Picis Inc. He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.

Along with his wife, Lisa, he is survived by two sons, Corwin Willems, Indianapolis, IN, Robert Steven Willems, Australia; two daughters, Cassandra Waters, Huntington, IN, Andrea Corder, Dayton, OH; one brother, Christopher (Lora) Willems, Canute, OK; one sister, Jennifer Willems, Peoria, IL; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Waters.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Willems.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm at McElhaney Funeral Home-Roanoke Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN, 46783.

A private burial will be at a later date.
