Richard L. Floyd, 93, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at the Heritage of Huntington.
Mr. Floyd was born August 9, 1927, in Rockford, IN, Wells County, to Charles and Nellie (Smith) Floyd. His parents preceded him in death. Richard married Barbara Miller on February 11, 1953, in Bluffton, IN. She preceded him in death on December 7, 2013.
Richard graduated from Huntington High School in 1945. Mr. Floyd served in the Merchant Marines United States Coast Guard. He was a self-employed Crop Insurance Agent. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Parkview Huntington YMCA. Richard loved sailing on Lake Wawasee and on Lake Michigan.
Richard is survived by 6 nieces, 5 nephews, brother-in-law, Richard (Diane) Miller, Andrews, IN; and good friends, Lynn and Ann Pittenger, Huntington, IN.
Along with Richard’s parents and wife, Barbara, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Floyd, Mark Floyd; and four sisters, Artis Johnson; Esther Hosier, Charlene Williams and Marciel Bear.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN, with Pastor Lois Cannon officiating.
