Rena Sue Okuly- Kelsey, 85, of Huntington, IN passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Kelsey was born on September 2, 1934, in Monroe County, Bloomington, IN, to Herman and Freida (Purcell) Woods. Her parents preceded her in death. Mrs. Kelsey’s first marriage was to Gene Okuly on May 24, 1975. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1997. Her second marriage was to William ‘Bill’ Kelsey on January 11, 1999. He survives and resides in Huntington, IN.
Mrs. Kelsey was employed as a property manager at Carriage Place Apartments in 1982 and retired in 1996. Mrs. Kelsey was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN, and E.S.A. Sorority Delta Iota Chapter 3525 and VFW # 2689 Huntington Auxiliary.
Along with her husband, Bill, she is survived by two sons, Kenny Goodman, Waynesville, NC, Kevin (Linda) Goodnight, Huntington, IN; four daughters: Kathleen A. Smith, Huntington, IN, Karin S. (Tom) Fulkerson, Bloomington, IN, Karol M. (Michael) Bonine, Bloomington, IN, and Kelly C. (life partner, Tony Davis) Bates, Ketchikan, AK; four step-sons, Charles L. (Vicki) Kelsey, North Manchester, IN, Cary D. (Betty) Kelsey, Elkhart, IN, Michael Carr, Hot Springs, AR, Randel Carr, Pierceton, IN; and four step-daughters, Shirley M. (Charles) Fox, Indianapolis,,IN, Mary S. (Dan) Riccius, North Manchester, IN, Sharon K. Lee, Fort Wayne, IN, and Amy L. (Bob) Blake, Vincennes, IN.
Mrs. Kelsey is also survived by one brother, Bud Fisher, The Villages, FL; two sisters, Sandra J. DeMoss, Huntington, IN, Cheryl A. (Ross) Thompson, Rocklin, CA; and 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by two step-sons, Larry Allen Kelsey, William Carr; two step-daughters, Charlotte Paulus, Viola Moore; and one grandson, Alex Rice.
Calling will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street., Huntington, IN.
The family will have a private Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
A private burial will be at a later date.
