Paul E. Swain, 71, of Roanoke, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center, Markle, IN.
Paul was born on November 2, 1948, in Huntington, IN, to William O. and Edna (Wall) Swain. His parents preceded him in death. He married Vickie Baumgardner on December 6, 1986, and she survives and resides in Roanoke.
Paul was a 1967 graduate of Huntington High School. He was the Superintendent of Utilities for the Town of Roanoke for 38 years. Paul was an avid hunter and was well known as “the legend”. He also loved fishing and camping.
Along with his wife, Vickie, he is survived by two sons, Joshua W. Swain, Huntington, Joseph A. Swain, Columbus, OH; two daughters, Nanette Hardcastle, Albion, IN, Jennell (Tom) O’Hare, Fort Wayne, IN; one step-son, Tyson (Jill) Biehl; one step-daughter, Tonya Ptak, both of Huntington, IN.
Paul is also survived by three sisters, Tonya (Gary) Buzzard, Warren, IN, Trudy Swain, Denver, CO, Cindy (Bob) Dillahay, Fishers, IN; one step-sister, Cindy Carter, Indianapolis, IN;13 grandchildren, Brett Swain, Michael O’Hare, Daniel O’Hare, Thomas O’Hare, Will Swain, Livia Swain, Lee Hardcastle, Madison Ptak, Mason Ptak, Caydnce Biehl, Jaedyn Biehl; and one great grandchild, Otto Swain.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one step-sister, Vicki Bickel.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, with Chaplain Kurt Snyder officiating.
Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
