Paul Dean Akers

Paul Dean Akers, age 91, of Huntington, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at his residence.

Paul was born on May 10, 1934, in Pikeville, KY, to the late William Hatler and Hattie (Little) Akers. He married Wanda Geneva Young on October 27, 1957, and she preceded him in death on March 3, 2016.

Paul retired from Western Wheel with over 18 years of service and never missed a day of work. Paul proudly served in the United States Army and loved reminiscing over his time served.  He always loved watching Andy Griffith and Little House on the Prairie.  He enjoyed collecting model cars, being outdoors in the garage and spending time with his family.

Paul will be remembered for his unique and unforgettable sense of humor and putting others first. His humor and stories were gifts to everyone who knew him.

Paul is survived by one daughter, Deborah Morris, Huntington, IN; two sons, Michael Akers, Tim Akers, both of Huntington, IN; 6 grandchildren, Jordan Akers, Logan Akers, Tiffany Akers, Brandi Newsome, Noah Morris, Abby Morris; and four great-grandchildren, Cayden Akers, Aria Newsome, Bristollynn Walker and Kessiah Walker.

Along with his parents and wife, Wanda, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A graveside burial will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN, with Pastor Josh Kesler officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Donor’s Choice in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
