Jerry Lee Felts, age 92, of Lagro, IN, a faithful follower of Christ, passed on to eternally serve our Savior in Heaven October 4, 2024, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born May 28, 1932 in Huntington to Alvah Joel and Josephine Mae (Lutz) Felts. Jerry graduated from Huntington High School 1951, and immediately enlisted in service with the United States Air Force where he was then deployed to Tempelhof Air Base, Berlin, Germany.
It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Rosemarie Koschel, as she was searching for a job in post-war Berlin. Not long after meeting, the two were married in November 1953 there in Berlin. When Jerry’s service to the US Air Force was complete, the couple returned to the Huntington area and began a family together. Jerry worked a few jobs in the area before landing a rewarding 20+ years employment with International Harvester of Fort Wayne. He would retire from his UAW position at International Harvester in 1984.
Over the years Jerry found great peace, joy, and reward in following and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He became an ordained minister and served as the pastor of five various churches over the course of twenty years in the Northern Indiana region. In addition to serving as a minister, Jerry established a workplace bible study for interested co-workers at International Harvester and traveled internationally to serve as a missionary to the Philippines and India.
Jerry dearly loved friends and family and could keep a good conversation going for hours. He loved traveling to Canada for an annual fishing trip and mushroom hunting in Michigan; he was always outdoor his whole life. He found great pleasure in keeping a perfectly maintained yard, swimming with grandchildren, a perfectly fried tenderloin sandwich, gardening, and going for fall walks with his beloved pup, Lydia, who he lovingly referred to as “punker”.
Pastor Felts is survived by his adoring wife of 70 years, Rosemarie, and his three children: Michael (Fran) Felts, Marcus (Hyonok) Felts, and Cynthia (Joseph) DeMike, along with thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. As well, siblings
George (Yvonne) Felts of Arizona, Sandra (Bruce) Snyder of Wyoming, and Jeanne (Robert) Boyce of Maine, survive.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Wright and Shirley Schlemmer-Reese.
Services will be held at St. Paul’s County Line Church, 3995 N 1000 W, Andrews, IN, Saturday, October 12. Visitation will be one hour, beginning at 12 Noon, with service to follow at 1 o’clock. Pastor Conrad Thompson will preside.
A private interment will be held at a later date.
