Norman E. Bowers Sr.

Norman E. Bowers Sr., 84, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2020, at his residence in Huntington, IN.

Norm was born on August 15, 1935 in Huntington, IN, to Hayden and Clara (Parrett) Bowers.  His parents preceded him in death.  Norman married Betty M. Heffelfinger in 1958 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.  His wife Betty passed away earlier this year on January 14, 2020.

Norm served in the Army during the Korean War.  He was experienced in upholstery and custom sewing and was co-owner of Norm’s Upholstery working side by side his wife in Huntington for over 50 years. 

He is survived by three sons, Randy (Donna) Bowers, Rick Bowers, Norm, Jr. “Butch” (Sue Parker) Bowers; one daughter, Terry (Russell) Slone, all of Huntington.  He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Gary Bowers, Huntington, IN; and one sister, Roxanna (Robert) Shumate, Huntington, IN.

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rose Polson; four brothers; Hayden Bowers, Jr., Jack Bowers, Richard Bowers, Donnie Bowers; and three sisters, Juanita Holley, Velene Gibler and Evelyn Raber.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Star of Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN. with Rev. Matt Snodderly officiating.
