Ned E. Gamble

Ned E. Gamble, age 78, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Envive of Huntington.

Ned was born on May 7, 1946, in Huntington, IN, to the late Ernest and Frieda L. (Bates) Gamble.  Ned married Lynn Schilling Butz on July 6, 1985, and she survives and resides in Huntington.  

Ned was a 1965 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He was a heavy equipment operator at IMI for 43 years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #1014 in Huntington. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing. When he couldn’t be outdoors, he watched the wide-open spaces of classic westerns from the comfort of his living room. Known for his sense of humor and devotion to his family, Ned could be seen at his grandchildren’s various games, recitals, and concerts.

Along with his wife, Lynn, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Butz Burkhart, Huntington, IN, Lee Ann Butz (Kerry) Arnold, Lafayette, IN; two brothers, John (Carol) Gamble, Warren, IN, Kurt (Barb) Gamble, Huntington, IN; five sisters, Barb Bowen, Mary Wooley, both of Huntington, IN, Viva (Craig) Howell, Warren, IN, Susie Smith, Angela Kitchen, both of Huntington, IN; and four grandchildren, Thaddeus Arnold, Lilliana Arnold, Kameron Burkhart, and Katelyn Burkhart.

Along with Ned’s parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Christina “Tina” Hunt.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. followed by the calling hours from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Thomas Zehr presiding.

Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
