Nancy L. Kelsey, age 91, formerly of Roanoke, IN, was called to her heavenly home on October 2, 2023. Nancy was born in Rochester, MN, on April 26, 1933, to Delores Williams and Ray Wilson. Nancy spent most of her youth in Dubuque, IA, where she graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse. She went on to specialize in obstetrics and worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 38 years. Nancy served in this capacity in both Dubuque and Champaign, IL.
Nancy met and married the love of her life, Robert Kelsey of Roanoke in 1957. They lived in both Dubuque and Champaign until they retired. After that, the two lived on Lake Sara in Effingham, IL, until they moved to Roanoke where they spent wonderful years with family and friends. While there the couple attended the Chapel in Fort Wayne and Seminary United Methodist Church in Roanoke.
Nancy volunteered at the American Legion and the Roanoke Museum. She was an active member of the Knitting Club, an organization where all handmade sweaters and hats are donated to the needy.
Nancy was predeceased by her mother, father, and husband. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Graham of Troy, Ohio, and many nieces, nephews and friends who adored her.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at McElhaney Funeral Home, Roanoke Chapel, 240 Crestwood Drive, Roanoke, IN 46783. Calling time will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service starting at 11:00 am. A luncheon will immediately follow at the American Legion in Roanoke, 1122 N. Main Street. Family and friends are invited.
A private burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.
