Michael Kennedy Hunnicutt, 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Parkview Regional Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
Michael was born on November 6, 1958, in Huntington, IN, to Joseph K. and Margaret “Margi” (Kennedy) Hunnicutt, who survives and resides in Huntington.
Michael attended Huntington Catholic Schools and graduated his senior year from Huntington North High School in 1977. He received an Associate’s Degree from IPFW. Michael was a computer programmer for many years at North American Van Lines which later became SIRVA. Michael served in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer and very family oriented and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Along with his parents, Joseph and Margi; Michael is survived by four brothers, Matthew (Werner Ochoa) Hunnicutt, Chicago, IL, Martin (Breck) Hunnicutt, Fort Wayne, IN, Vincent Hunnicutt, Huntington, IN, Todd Patrick (Kathleen) Hunnicutt, Fort Wayne, IN; and one sister, Peggy (Ted Frost) Billings, Denver, CO. Michael is also survived by three granddaughters, Lacie Marie Hunnicutt, Jacie Herring, Christine Hiday; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Michael was preceded in death by two sons, Jerin Matthew Hunnicutt, Caleb Joseph Hunnicutt; and one sister, Paula Rapczynski.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St, Huntington, IN.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Additional calling hours will be held on Monday, February 10, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750, with Fr. Stephen Colchin and Fr. Tony Steinacker, presiding.
Burial will be at Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St, Huntington, IN 46750.
