Michael Gensic Obituary

Michael J. Gensic, age 76, of Albion, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at St. Anne Community in Fort Wayne, IN.

Michael was born on April 25, 1949, in Bluffton, IN, to the late John Henry and Dorotha Louise (McConnell) Gensic.  He married Patricia Ann Harber on June 20, 1970, who preceded him in death after 52 years of marriage.

Michael was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne and a 1971 graduate of Indiana Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. He played basketball and volleyball at Indiana Tech and was a member of Tech’s athletic Hall of Fame.

Michael was a project engineer for the Indiana Department of Transportation in the Indianapolis area. In 1984, he founded Gensic Engineering, a civil engineering design firm where he worked until retirement in 2023.

Michael and Patricia enjoyed traveling and working on their farm where they restored forests, grasslands, and wetlands, and built their own home. They were happy that their children and grandchildren had the opportunity to grow up and appreciate nature on their farm. Michael enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s basketball games and wishes all of his children and grandchildren the best in their future endeavors.

Michael is survived by his four children, Nikole (Mike), Peter (Sara), Annette (Gilbert), John (Jenna); and 15 grandchildren, Connor (Ali), Maria, Maggie, Jack, Tatiana, Liam, Alek, J.T., Tyler, Arielle, Henry, Mikan, Anica, Drexler, and Finley. He is also survived by five brothers, George (Trisha), Mark (Betty), Tony (Deb), Jack (Kathy), Dennis (Lisa); and two sisters, Angela (Dave) and Anastasia (Joe).

Along with his parents and wife, Patricia, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara.
