Mary L. "Pinky" Dalrymple, age 87, of Roanoke, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, surrounded by family. Mary was born on April 15, 1937, in Kokomo, IN, to the late Hazel Lucille (Lynch) Miller and Ralph G. Miller. After Ralph abandoned the family, her parents divorced in 1938. She was raised for several years by her beloved mother, Lucille, and her maternal grandparents. On June 5, 1947, her mother, Lucille, married Roy D. Shideler, Jr. and Roy became Mary’s father.
Mary was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson Township High School. On June 10, 1955, she married Robert L. Dalrymple. They were married 54 years before his death on January 4, 2010.
Mary worked in banking for 40 plus years, was a member of Huntington Art Guild, Gingham Gals, Piecemakers Quilt Club and Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Beta Chi Chapter #1009.
Mary’s greatest joy was her three children and her family. She was truly loved and adored by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whether she was teaching us, talking to us, or listening to us. She always made time and that time was always a “No judgement” zone.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Jean A. (David) Collins, Harlan, IN, and Jill L. (James) Owens, Roanoke, IN; 9 grandchildren, Nathan Dalrymple, Jill Meekin, Jesse Owens, Camrey Bush, Andrews Collins, Drew Owens, Adam Collins, and Logan Owens; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip (Barbara) Shideler, Lubbock, TX, Dennis M. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her beloved son, R. Alan Dalrymple, daughter-in-law, Beverly Dalrymple Zollinger; a great-granddaughter, and her stepsister of 71 years, Joanna Jane Grassl.
