Mary Jo "M. J." (Straub) Zembala

Mary Jo “M.J.” Zembala, 62, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.                                              

M. J. was born on November 2, 1957, in LaPorte, IN, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Bowman) Straub. Her parents preceded her in death.  She married Larry Zembala in 1981 and he survives and resides in Huntington.

M.J. was a 1976 graduate of LaPorte High School and a 1980 graduate of the University of Indianapolis.  She worked in Human Resources/Payroll at North Judson-San Pierre School System and also worked as the Executive Director for Starke United in Knox, IN.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.  M.J. loved her kids, grandkids, and took joy in watching birds and taking care of plants.

Along with her husband, Larry, M.J. is survived by two sons, Alex (Kia) Zembala, Fort Wayne, IN, Kyle (Brittany) Zembala, Hoagland, IN; two brothers, John (Linda) Straub, Dan (Karen) Earl, both of LaPorte, IN; two sisters, Sandy Burkhart, Cherie Fuller, both of LaPorte, IN; and three grandchildren, Brenten, Emmsley, and Killian.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Penny Jedrysek.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, August, 3, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

Mass of Christian burial will follow the calling at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church with Fr. Stephen Colchin presiding.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
