Mary Louise (Martin) Shupert

Mary L. Shupert, 98, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at her residence.              

Mary was born on December 27, 1923, in Webster, NY, to the late Harlan and Lora (Kittleberger) Martin. She married William “Bill” Robert Shupert on October 24, 1947.  He preceded her in death in 1969.

Mary was a 1946 graduate of North Central in Naperville, IL. After graduation she married her husband and moved to Elkhart, IN, and then to Huntington in 1963.  She was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Huntington.

She was a letter writer. Starting when she went away from home to college; she wrote multiple letters every week for over 60 years, and she loved to receive mail.  In honor of Mary the family is encouraging all to write a letter.

Mary is survived by one daughter, Daryl Shrock, Huntington; two sons, Hugh (Eline) Shupert, Palmetto, FL, Alan (Sarah) Shupert, Decatur, IN; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Shupert; two brothers, Andrew Martin, Carl Martin; and one sister, Virginia Gupta.

A  Memorial Picnic honoring Mary will be celebrated on Sunday, June 26, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a time for sharing at 2:00 p.m., at 1524 Fruit Street, Huntington, IN.

A private family burial will be at a later date at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
