Mary Francis (Music) Long, 76, of Roanoke, IN, passed away at her home on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 4:50 a.m.
Dearest Wife and Mother, you left us,
Your smiling face we’ll see no more,
But we will struggle on to meet you,
On that Celestial Shore.
Mary Francis (Music) Long was born May 6, 1944, in Paintsville, KY, to Thomas Jefferson Music and Stella (Saddler) Music. When Mary was 5 years old, her Mother passed away, and then was reared by her Father and stepmother, Thomas and Loretta Music. Mary was married on July 25, 1964, to Toby Long. He survives and resides in Roanoke, IN.
Mary was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church, Roanoke, IN. She worked in the church nursery for many years. She loved all the babies and the little children of the church and asked about them and their families many times through the years. Mary was a dedicated Wife, Mom, Sister, and Friend, and a devoted prayer warrior.
Mary worked at Utrad, Fisher’s Engineering, Huntington Glass, Pyle’s Speakers, and Huntington Nursing Home all in Huntington, IN and she worked as a private in-home care giver in Roanoke, IN and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Toby Long, her three sons, James Long of Huntington, IN, Shawn (Kathy) Long of Fort Wayne, IN, and Eric (Amy) Long of Hammond, IN. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Nichole Garrison, Zachariah (Rachel) Long, Lucas Long and Dustin (Cassi) Howell all of Huntington, IN. Great granddaughter, Evelyn Myers, also of Huntington, IN. Special family, Beth Ann Long, Chris Long, and Misty Long, all of Huntington, IN. One sister, Juanita (Paul) Ely of Lima, OH and one brother, Ernest Ray “Bud” (Joyce) Music, West Jefferson, OH, two brother in laws, Delbert Sloan, Huntington IN and Kanawha Long, Kermit, WV and one sister in law, Janie Hack of Gas City, IN.
Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much, and special thanks to Janice Richards, and Judy Arthur. Also, special friends, Tina Neumann & her family, Eileen Crandal, Sherry Bonsack, Nancy Jones, Katherine Hadaway, Orpah and Charles Okeley, and all of her Roanoke Baptist Church family. She had many special friends who touched her life, so many we are unable to list them all.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, preceding her in death are her twenty siblings, one grandchild, Jesse Long and one great grandchild, Riley Garrison and great friends, Ione Mahan, Faye Patten and Betty Neumann.
A special thank you to Mary’s nurses, Michelle Wittwer, Chelsea, and Katelyn who did a wonderful job with her care.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Roanoke Baptist Church, 11015 Lafayette Center Road, Roanoke, IN 46783. Pastor Mike Tarr and Dr. James Bachman will officiate.
A private family burial will follow the service at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Nursery/Children’s Ministries of Roanoke Baptist Church, 11015 Lafayette Center Rd, Roanoke, IN 46783, 260-478-5500.
Pallbearers will be Zachariah Long, Lucas Long, Kevin Wittwer, Michael Neumann and Nickolas Neumann.
