Mark E. Bartrom, 91, of Wabash, IN, and formerly of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at 5:12 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor East, Wabash, IN, after an extended illness.
Mr. Bartrom was born on September 19, 1927, in Huntington, IN, to Charles and Goldie (Braden) Bartrom. Mark married Barbara Williamson on March 29, 1948, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN, and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2018.
Mark was a graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He served in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a Supervisor at General Electric in Fort Wayne. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Past Commander at American Legion Post #7, and a member of the VFW #2689.
Mark is survived by one daughter, Kimberly A. Pinkerton, Wabash, IN; one son, Bret A. (Sylvia) Bartrom, Anchorage, AK; 19 grandchildren, Daniel, Aaron, Rachel, April, Barbara, Elizabeth, Matthew, Craig, Michelle, Anna, Jeremy, Jeff, Christopher, Steven, Johnathon, Jennifer, James Brandon, Alyssa, Theresa, and several great grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four sons, Howard J. Bartrom, Steven W. Bartrom, Daniel W. Bartrom, Baby Bartrom; 7 brothers, Francis, John, Donald, Robert, Charles, Gene and David Bartrom; and 6 sisters, Joan Keyser, Lucile Millner, Mabel Cone, Marie Casper, Rosellen Hatch and Ruth Garshwiler.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held following the calling on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750, with Fr. Stephen Colchin presiding.
Military Honors will immediately follow the Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the VFW #2689 in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
