Marguerite "Sue" (Leming) Strass

Marguerite (Sue) Strass, age 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.                                                 

Sue was born to the late George and Josephine (Owens) Leming on August 18, 1936, in Huntington, IN.  She married Ivan Strass on February 16, 1957, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2008. 

Sue was a 1954 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She had worked for the city as Deputy Clerk Treasurer and worked at the Huntington Library for 17 years before her retirement. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Sue was very proud of her Native American lineage being the great-great granddaughter of Chief Francis LaFontaine.

Sue is survived by two sons, Kirk (Patti) Strass, Erik (Melissa) Strass, both of Huntington, IN; two daughters, Angela Strass, Fort Wayne, IN, Katrina (William Floyd) Mitten, Huntington, IN; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Leming.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, followed by the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, with Father Thomas Zehr presiding.

The burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
