Mae (Stephan) Leedy

Mae Leedy 100, Huntington, IN, passed away on April 6, 2026, 12:30am at Heritage Pointe of Huntington, IN. Mrs. Leedy was born on January 19, 1926, in Huntington County, IN, to John E. and Frieda (Schenkel) Stephan. She was a proud graduate of Andrews High School, class of 1944. Her marriage was to James Leedy on June 18, 1949 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2001.

Mrs. Leedy was a homemaker but also served her community for many years as an Avon representative. Mae was a member of the Huntington Art Guild, as well. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Widows of Prayer, Secular Franciscans, and the Gollner Guild.

Mae is survived by four sons, Timothy Leedy, Huntington, IN., Antony (Laura) Leedy, Huntington, IN.; Nickolas (Maryanne) Leedy, Kansas City, MO.; Thomas (Sue) Leedy, Huntington, IN; two daughters, Michele (Gary) Barton, Fort Wayne, IN, Tina (Dave) Miller, Spencerville, IN; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Eldon Stephan, James Stephan, Carl Stephan; and two sisters, Rosemary Storer and Marcella Westfall. One daughter-in-law, Brenda Leedy, precedes her, as well.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 9, from 4-7pm, with Rosary at 3:30pm, all at the McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St. Huntington, IN. 

Funeral services will be Friday, April 10, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church 860 Cherry St. Huntington, IN. with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding. One hour of calling from 10-11am precedes the 11 o’clock Mass. 

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington, IN, immediately following Mass.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
