Luke Elias Bent

Luke Elias Bent, 20, of Huntington, IN, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.  Luke was patiently waiting for a liver transplant and it just didn’t come in time.  The photo chosen by the family is an upside down selfie that Luke took of himself; so, please know that the family wanted this picture to remain as is because of his beautiful smile and to preserve this very precious moment.

Luke was born on January 18, 2002, in Marion, IN. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Erica (York) and Jeremy Felver, Huntington, IN; and his father and step-mother, Boris and Josephine Bent, Indianapolis, IN.   

Luke was a 2021 Huntington North High School graduate. He was a 4 year member of the HNHS marching band and loved playing his trumpet.  While growing up Luke played PAL baseball, participated in Boy scouts, was a member of the Anime Club, Spanish Club, and attended Kidney Camp in the summer.

Along with Luke’s parents and step-parents, he is survived by four sisters, Dakota Wolfe, Indianapolis, IN, Margaret “Maisie” Bent, Huntington, IN, Shaian Hutcheson, Indianapolis, IN, Elise Felver, Huntington, IN; two brothers, Brice Felver and Jonas Bent, both of Huntington, IN; maternal grandparents, John and Peg York, North Webster, IN; Ron and Cindy Felver, Warren, IN; paternal grandparent, Elaine Bent, Middleborough, MA; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, August, 26, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Byron Kaiser officiating.

Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
