Larry A. Waikel, age 84, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Wabash.
Larry was born on February 25, 1940, in Huntington, IN, to the late Elmer Taylor and Bernice C. (Teusch) Waikel. He married Susan Brock on September 4, 1965, and she survives and resides in Huntington.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963. Larry retired in 1995 from General Electric in Fort Wayne after 30 years working as a truck driver. Larry was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1014.
Along with his wife, Susan, he is survived by two sons, Brian D. Waikel, Timothy J. (Brooke) Waikel, both of Fort Wayne, IN; three brothers, Elmer F. (Bonnie) Waikel, Huntington, IN, Steven J. (Johanna) Waikel, Fort Wayne, IN, Patrick S. (Cindy) Waikel, Bluffton, IN; one sister, Mary Ann (Jeff) Hildebrand, Huntington, IN; four grandchildren, Kelsi (Brandon) Houser, Columbia City, IN, David (Everett) Waikel, Eric Dyduch, Keira Waikel, all of Fort Wayne, IN; and 3 great-grandchildren, Roxanne, Quinn, and Freya Houser, all of Columbia City, IN.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara J. Vance.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Monday, January 27, 2025, followed by the calling hours until 11:00 a.m. all at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN. The Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Father Tony Steinacker officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
