Larry Vergon, 74, passed away after a brief illness at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN in the early morning of June 6, 2024. Born on June 28,1949 in Huntington, IN, Larry was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
Larry graduated from Wabash High School where he met and started an adventure in love with his wife, Vickie. Larry enjoyed tinkering with small engines and machinery which led him to work as a draftsman at Magnavox. His talents in engineering and desire to escape snow led him to Orlando, FL where decades later he retired from Lockheed Martin.
Larry will be remembered for his quick wit, loyalty, and attention to detail. He enjoyed fishing, golf, buying/selling treasures, auto racing, classic cars, and tractors. His legacy of wisdom and kindness will live on in the hearts of those that knew him.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Vickie, children Keren (Anna), Larry “Skip” (Kelley), and grandsons Zachary and Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his father Dwight Aldean Vergon, mother Mary Margaret Burton, and sister Sandra Panagouleas.
Larry’s life will be celebrated at memorials on Friday, June 14th at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home in Crossville, TN at 3:00pm and on Friday, June 21st at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750 at 1:30pm, with a visitation from 1pm to 1:30pm.
Interment will be at Clear Creek Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
