Larry G. Hollowell, age 89, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, surrounded by his family at his residence.
Mr. Hollowell was born November 11, 1935, in Huntington, IN, to the late Lowell and Helen (Schenkel) Hollowell. He married Margaret Kay Conner on November 28, 1964, and she survives in Huntington, IN.
Larry graduated from Monument City High School in 1953, and then he proudly served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Larry worked for 25 years in the Purchasing Department at Memcor (E-Systems) and then retired on October 31, 1997, after 15 years as a Senior Buyer from ITT Aerospace. Larry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Larry loved spending time with his family, especially fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He was an avid Cubs fan and had the thrill of a lifetime when he attended the World Series in 2016 to see the Cubs win.
Along with his wife, Margaret, Larry is survived by two sons, Todd (Angie) Hollowell, Orland Park, IL; Tim (Cindy) Hollowell, Warsaw, IN; 6 grandchildren, Austin, Corbin, Claire, Grace, James, and Thomas Hollowell; and two sisters-in-law, Linda Hollowell, Kathy Hollowell, both of Huntington, IN.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard L. “Dick” Hollowell and James E. “Ed” Hollowell.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington with Chaplain Michael Deeter officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Peter’s First Community Church Cemetery, Huntington, Indiana.
