Katherine "Kate" L. (Smith) Nave

Katherine “Kate” L. Nave, 81, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Kate was born on November 8, 1940, in Collamer, IN, to Kenneth and Dorothie (Huggins) Smith.  Her parents preceded her in death.   Kate married Larry E. Nave on October 23, 1960, and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2017.

Kate graduated from South Whitley High School in 1958 and from Fort Wayne Beauty College. She worked many years as a supervisor and retired from Triad-Utrad in Huntington.  She enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, in Huntington.  She was also a member of the ESA Sorority, the DAR, the local Home Economics Club, and just enjoyed being a social butterfly.  Kate and Larry loved spending winters in Mission, Texas at Split Rail Park where one year they were named King and Queen of the park.

 Kate is survived by two sons, Timothy (Sherion) Nave, Antony (Caryn) Nave, both of Huntington, IN; one daughter, Penny (Roger) Emley, Wabash, IN; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Betty Lane, TN.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Smith.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Rd, Huntington, IN  46750, with Pastor Bobby Kemp officiating.

A burial will follow at Cleveland Township Cemetery, South Whitley, IN.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either of the following: First Church of the Nazarene, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Riley Children’s Foundation in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN  46750.
