Karen Louise (Till) Kohr

Karen Louise Kohr, age 77, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, surrounded by her family at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Karen was born on June 5, 1948, in Fort Wayne, IN, to the late Richard and Vivian (Bushroe) Till.  She married Robert Kohr on February 10, 1968, and he preceded her in death on April 6, 2013, after celebrating 45 years of marriage.   

Karen was a 1966 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She raised her family and worked for 20 years in the insurance industry at Huntington Mutual Insurance Company. Karen was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, and The Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma International Society. She was an avid reader, but her greatest joy was spending time and traveling with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was widely known for her legendary Christmas fudge, the secret of which she always claimed was simply the "right amount of love".

Karen is survived by two daughters, Rachel (John) Nelson, Amanda (Ryan) Martin, both of Huntington, IN; four brothers, Rick (Linda) Till, Arlington, VA, Cliff (Stephanie) Till, Huntington, IN, Chris (Sue) Till, Bluffton, IN, Phillip (Katja) Till, Huntington, IN; two sisters, Laura Till, Beth Long, both of Huntington, IN; 9 grandchildren, Tyler (Audrey Deiser) Nelson, Hannah (Fiancé Jack Wagner) Nelson, Jack (Fiancé Janelle Mondragon) Nelson, Bailey (Ian) Smith, Kendall Hartman, Reece (Rylee) Martin, Fisher Kohr, Grayson Martin, Ryder Martin; and 3 great-grandchildren, Adler Smith, Reiner Smith, and Andie Martin.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Joel Robert Kohr in 2000; one brother, Larry Till; and sister-in-law, Barb Till.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Rosary to begin at 2:30 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., all at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
