Judith "Judy" A. (Brock) O'Banion

Judith A. “Judy” O’Banion, age 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Judy was born on July 10, 1938, in Monroe County, IN, to the late Herschell and Ocie (Boruff) Brock. Judy married Patrick O’Banion on December 19, 1959, and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2025.

Judy was a 1956 graduate of Huntington High School. She retired in 2001 after serving as an Aide for the Huntington County School Corporation for 42 years.  She was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Huntington, IN and was a Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority member since 1974.

Judy always loved camping and found great joy in spending time outdoors. She also loved her work and was deeply dedicated to the children she served. Through her kindness and compassion, she made a lasting impact on countless young lives.

Judy was a shining light to so many people. Her warmth, generosity, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

Judy is survived by one son, Dan (Kim) O’Banion, Huntington, IN; one daughter, Darlene Kay O’Banion, Huntington, IN; one granddaughter, Morgan O’Banion; one great-granddaughter, Amelia; and one sister, Sue Waikel, Huntington, IN.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jill Ann O’Banion; and one son, Douglas Patrick O’Banion.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority Memorial Service at 10:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.

A private burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to Riley Children’s Hospital or Pathfinder Services in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
