Joseph E. Wagner

Joseph E. Wagner, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, at his residence.

 Joe was born in Huntington, IN on March 13, 1944, to Clay and Sarah (McClure) Wagner.  He married Diana L. Wright on November 18, 1967.  She survives in Columbia, City, IN. 

Joe was a graduate of Clear Creek High School in 1962. He was drafted to the Army and served in Vietnam from 1965-1967.  He was a conductor on the Erie Railroad; a fter 42 years, he retired from Norfolk and Southern in 2004. He was a member of the American Legion, Whitehouse, OH.

Along with his wife, Joe is survived by two daughters, Sherry (fiance’ Tim Dolby) Miller, Huntington, IN and Lisa (Peter) Czyznik, Surprise, AZ.  He is also survived by five grandsons, Justin (Sarah) Miller, Jacob (Jenna) Miller, Jarid Miller, Ryne Czyznik and Tyler Czyznik.  He is survived by two brothers, Don (Doris) Wagner, Huntington, IN and John (Janet) Wagner, Huntington, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Jaime M. Miller.

Burial will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, (Servia, IN) 9977 County Road 300 W. North Manchester, IN  46962

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northeast Indiana Honor Flight and Riley Children’s Hospital in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
