John L. Bauer

John L. Bauer, 78, of Huntington, IN, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.                                            

  Mr. Bauer was born on April 12, 1941, in Marion, OH, to the late Robert and Lucy (Brady) Bauer. He was raised by his grandparents, Fred & May Brady who also preceded him in death. He married Carol Williams on July 26, 1962.  She survives and resides in Huntington, IN. 

Mr. Bauer graduated from LaRue Local High School, Marion County, OH, in 1959.   He worked for the Erie Railroad and later was a truck driver.  He was a member of New Bloomington Methodist Church, in Ohio.  He enjoyed vacationing with family and hunting.

Along with his wife, Carol, he is survived by four sons, Jay Bauer, Chicago, IL,  Jerry (Jill) Bauer, Huntington, James (Amanda) Bauer, Huntington, Justin (Jennifer) Bauer, Fort Wayne; one daughter, Kimberly (Wade) Stuckey, Fort Wayne.  He is also survived by one brother, Dennis Bauer, Wooster, OH; one sister, Dorothy Fields, Marion, OH; and 10 grandchildren, Patrick, Chandler, Conner, Sullivan, Syler, Harper, Logan, Brooklyn, Roland & Charlotte.

Along with his grandparents and parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Bauer, Richard Bauer; two sisters, Isabel Ransom, Rachel Barnes; and one nephew, John Ledman.

Calling will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Monroe officiating.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
