Janet Gail (Bowman) Stoffel

Janet Gail Stoffel, 79, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.        

Mrs. Stoffel was born on September 17, 1942, in Huntington, Indiana, to Mark and Evelyn May (Frewer) Bowman. Her parents preceded her in death. Janet married Wallace Stoffel on July 1, 1967, and he survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Janet was a 1960 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School.  She received her B.A. and M.A. from St. Francis College. She retired from Huntington County School Corporation as an Elementary School Teacher. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington County Retired Teachers Association, I.S.T.A., and N.E.A. Janet was named Huntington County School Corporation “Elementary School Teacher of the Year” in 1993 and 1994.

In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by two sons, Kyle (Michelle) Stoffel, Fort Wayne, Douglas Stoffel, Columbia City, IN, and two grandchildren, Michaela Stoffel and Luke Stoffel.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann Stoffel.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 3:30 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, followed by calling hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Additional calling hours will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021, followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, IN 46750, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.

Burial will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Masses at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or to Huntington Catholic School in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN  46750.
