James W. Smith

James W. Smith, age 61, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.

Jim was born on June 20, 1962, in Fort Wayne, IN to Darryl and Janice (Craver) Smith.  His father preceded him in death and his mother survives.  He married Debbie Ness on June 27, 1998, and she survives and resides in Huntington.

Jim was a graduate of Elmhurst High School and Ivy Tech.  He was head maintenance at Burger King for many years and retired as a tax accountant from H & R Block.  He was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntington and was a true man of God, often times remembered for sharing the good word.  Jim loved fishing, golfing, and listening and singing to Christian music. 

Along with his wife, Debbie, and mother, Janice, he is survived by his son, Kayden James Smith, Huntington, IN; two sisters, Mona (Tim) Dennie, Fort Wayne, IN, Lisa (Jason) Harbuck, Huntington, IN; 12 nieces and nephews, 25 great-nieces and nephews; 5 great-great nieces and nephews; and for a period of time they were foster parents to two daughters.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church, 500 MacGahan Street, Huntington, IN, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Hayden officiating.

A private burial will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
