Glenda Sue (Johnson) McDowell

Glenda Sue McDowell, age 78, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, surrounded by her family at her residence.  

Glenda was born on March 19, 1946, in Halo, KY, to the late Willie and Delphia (Bryant) Johnson. She married Tom E. McDowell on March 6, 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2003.

Glenda had worked at United Tech in Huntington and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Huntington.

Glenda is survived by one son, Steffon Glen McDowell; one daughter, Patricia Morse, both of Huntington, IN; one brother, Evergit “Big Boy” (Susanna) Johnson, Huntington, IN; one sister, Millie Skeens, KY; sister-in-law, Larya Johnson, Huntington, IN; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Maime Howell, Levi Johnson, Ova Johnson, Laurie Lovejoy, Mildred Mitchell, Miller Johnson, Marylin Johnson, Betty Isaac, Allen Johnson, and Robert Johnson.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

A Graveside Service will follow at 1:15 p.m. at Clear Creek Cemetery, 3213 W 750 N, Huntington, IN.
