Garland E. Betz

Garland E. Betz, age 75, of Huntington, IN, died on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Garland was born on March 15, 1949, in Huntington, IN, to the late Carl E. and Kathryn “Kate” (Schipper) Betz. He married Sharon (Selig) Baumgardner Betz in 1997 and she survives in Huntington.

Garland was a 1967 graduate of Huntington High School.  He was a truck driver for Hiner Transport and ALH in Markle.  He later drove a dump truck for Baumgardner Excavating.

Along with his wife, Sharon, he is survived by two sons, Tony (Patty) Baumgardner, T.J. (Chrissy) Baumgardner; two daughters, Danielle (Rich) Swada, and Dawn (John) Jackson, all of Huntington. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ronnie (Dee) Johnston; two nephews, Jeff (Krissy) Johnston, Kurt (Kristy) Johnston; and 10 grandchildren, Logan Baumgardner, Gage Swada, Caleb Jackson, Chelsea Swada, Peyton Jackson, Miller Baumgardner, Hayden Baumgardner, Elliot Baumgardner, Katherine Baumgardner, and David Baumgardner.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janet Johnston.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at Garland’s home.
