Frederick A. (Fritz) Bickel

Frederick A. “Fritz” Bickel II,51, of Huntington, IN, passed away at 6:51 p.m., on July 8, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

 Fritz was born on October 18, 1971, in Roanoke, IN, to Frederick A. and Diana (Wong) Bickel.

He married, the love of his life, Holly Starkey on June 6, 2009. She survives in Huntington.

 Fritz graduated from Huntington North High School in 1990. Fritz was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Fritz was a life member of VFW 2689 Auxillary, and the American Legion Auxillary Post 7.  He served as the past president of the Moose Lodge 837 and was currently serving as the Vice President, and he was also a Legioneer.

 He enjoyed fishing, cooking, and eating.  He loved traveling and taking bear hunt trips to Maine and going deer and mushroom hunting. He was a Candy Crush and Crane Master and a cartoon fanatic.  He was a handyman, that could fix anything and he took great pride in his craftmanship.  He was the life of the party and you could crack open a Miller with him anytime. He was “Shabadu” to his two granddaughters, the lights of his life.

 Along with his wife, he is survived by his parents, Frederick (Gay) Bickel, and mother Diana Bickel; two daughters, Olivia (Mason) Wichman, Auburn, IN, and Madeline (Auston Arnett) Bickel, Roanoke, IN.; one brother, Dustin (Cori) Bickel, St. Mary, GA; four sisters, Monica Lynch (Dion Eckart), Huntington, IN, Adrienne Shroyer, Fort Wayne, IN, Allyson Bickel (Virgil Kemper), Fort Wayne, IN, and Marisa (Kyle) Garritano, Fort Wayne, IN, two granddaughters, Sophie Wichman and Ada Arnett.  He is also survived by his beloved two cats, DaVinci and Loki and a whole gaggle of nieces and nephews.

 Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

 Additional calling will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

 A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN., with Father Thomas Zehr presiding.

 In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family in care of McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
