Eloise Lucille (Allman) Parker, 97, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at Parkview Huntington Hospital.
Eloise was born on July 7, 1925, in Huntington, IN, to the late John C. and Maybelle C. (Fahl) Allman. Eloise married James E. Parker on December 27, 1948, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2004.
Eloise was the 1943 Valedictorian of Huntington Catholic High School. She was a member of the SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the church choir, and a member of the Secular Franciscans. Eloise was a former employee of Indiana Bell, and secretary/receptionist at St. Felix Friary, in Huntington, IN. She also ran a daycare center with several friends for seven years. She was very involved with the Catholic Food Pantry at the SS. Peter and Paul Parish for over 40 years, which eventually became part of Love, INC. in Huntington, IN. She was on the leadership team with her husband and several other couples for Marriage Encounter retreats at St. Felix Friary.
Eloise is survived by four daughters: Jan F. Parker, Huntington, IN., Laura Christine “Chris” (Carla Stafford) Parker, Fort Wayne, IN., Sara L. (Robert) Parker-Milligan, Fort Wayne, IN., Maria C. Parker (Michael Freeman), Uniondale, IN; three sons, Vincent J. (Josephine) Parker, Nicholas J. Parker, Mark A. Parker, all of Huntington, IN; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Elizabeth Parker, Lafayette, IN and Elizabeth Parker Kindler, Huntington, IN.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers and sisters-in-law: Frederick J. (Rita) Allman, William C. (Helen) Allman, Rev. Robert B. (Ann) Allman; and one sister and brother-in-law Virginia L. (Dale) Smiley. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Bernard B. Parker, Basil J. (Noreta) Parker, and Thomas A. Parker.
A Franciscan Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. followed by calling hours from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart/Deal Rice Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
Additional calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, 46750, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Capuchin Franciscans (Province of St. Joseph), Love, INC. or SS. Peter & Paul Parish in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the agencies, staff, nurses, personal care assistants and case managers from Aging & In-Home Service of NE Indiana, Angel Corps, and Age in Place Services of Huntington, IN. The family wants to thank all the nurse practitioners, physicians, and medical staff who cared for her throughout her illnesses these past years; and special thanks to physicians, nurses, and staff at Parkview Huntington Hospital EMS and ER Department and Fr Tony Steinacker, pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Parish for their compassionate care for her and the family on the day of her journey back to God’s loving embrace.
The family is so grateful to Mike McElhaney, Barb, and staff at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home for their warm kindness in serving the family at this difficult time. The family extends a final thanks to loving relatives, friends, and the Capuchin Franciscans for all their support, love, and prayers.
